Ecoist Handbags Made From Candy Wrappers

“You want some of my Crispy Crunch? Well, you can have the wrapper and sew it into a bag...” That’s exactly what Spanish designer Marisa Rey did when she created her stylish line of handbags.

Each handbag is made from carefully selected, woven, and sewn candy wrappers. And they’re hot. At least ABC, Teen Magazine, MTV Fashion and Elle think so. Score.

“Ecoist was founded in 2004 with the objective to merge design, functionality, and environmental awareness to provide stylish, useful, and durable products you’ll be happy to own.

Most importantly, our goal is to inspire thought and a positive change in the way we treat our precious planet.

We believe you can enjoy your modern lifestyle and buy all your favorite “things” while doing good to the Earth. That’s how we came up with the term “Ecoist” and defined it as “an individual that seeks a modern, eco-friendly lifestyle”. Ecoist.com

H&M - Fashion Against AIDS Collection

Showing their support in the ongoing plight to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS, H&M has gathered a few of its celebrity pals to launch their Fashion Against AIDS collection. Designers and other artists joining in on the project include Rihanna, Jade Jagger, Katharine Hamnett, Timbaland, Good Charlotte, Scissor Sisters and more. They have each designed a range of limited edition t-shirts, tank tops and hooded sweaters varying in messages from the subtle to the blatant, e.g. Katherine Hamnett's t-shirt with the logo 'Use a condom!'.

Fashion Paris 2008 - Top 5 Collections

Here is a gallery of five luxe designers from the Paris 2008 show that show a huge range of style. Prada’s slit to there number, the Battlestar Gallactica look and fur; Margiela was influenced by the web with two designs and a peekaboo collar; Dior revived the dead starlet look with heavily made up eyes, or covered them completely with big hats; deGarcons went all floofy and colorful showing bare midriffs and torsos; Lagerfeld loved his tuxes in black and white and other conservative colors for a stark contrast.

Future of Scooters

MIT Media Lab’s RoboScooter prototype is entirely electric, with at least one lithium-ion battery pack that can be swapped out for another, fully charged on. It can also folded up for easy transport. The RoboScooter’s biggest innovation however — one with the real potential to change the state of urban transportation—is on the assembly line. “A traditional internal combustion vehicle might have 1200 to 1500 parts,” says William Mitchell, director of the Smart Cities research group and a professor of Architecture & Media Arts and Sciences. “RoboScooter has 150.” RoboScooter should be available in Asian markets in about a year.

Here some interesting news via Designboom, that Milan based concept store 10 Corso Como will be opening a second location in Seoul. The new location will be opening its doors in March 2008. Up until now, they only had one location in Milan since 1991, housing a store, hotel, book shop, gallery and restaurant. Above you see a first shot of the exterior of the new store!

Anna - Ikea Help Center

Anna is a digital assistant developed by artificial solutions or Ikea. Try to talk with her and you’ll found that she really knows something about Ikea and its products. She can open the map to show you a closest store, talk about Ikea’s corporate mission and special events.

So, she can do some real job. Instead of browsing the web site trying to find info you need or call Ikea by the phone, you can just ask her and get the right answer immediately.
Why use it? Anna’s manufacturer, Artificial Solutions says: “Using an Interactive Assistant for first line support, answering simple and repetitive questions is very cost efficient. By combining it with our operator-based chat, letting the assistant transfer the dialogue to a real person when needed, also ensures that your customers will always receive perfect service.”
Anna’s capabilities are limited, of course. But anyway, I think she can help to save your time on information search.
